Are you in recovery and aspire to have a leadership role in your community, on your campus, or in any other setting? Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 11th! During the 2018 ARHE/ARS/AAPG conference at the University of Houston, we’ll be hosting “Emerging Leaders in Recovery: An Evening Reception and Forum” from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Join 100+ emerging leaders alongside dozens of mentors as we gather to discuss leadership and professional development, service and mentoring, and recovery advocacy. Attendance is free and open to the public. During the reception time, attendees will have the opportunity to connect and engage with leaders in recovery from around the country. Each table will feature 2-3 of these leaders and we’ll be spotlighting some of them in the coming weeks through our Facebook event page. Appetizers and light dinner will also be served during the reception.

“A topic that keeps coming up with students I work with is how to navigate industries that may not be in the collegiate recovery field”, says Michael Polacek, one of the event co-founders and a Program Coordinator in the Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery at Kennesaw State University. “I think the professional backgrounds of some of the panelists will yield some great conversations about this topic, something I think many in the audience will find beneficial as they progress both academically and professionally.”

Kimber Lee Falkinburg, another co-founder and the visionary for the event, added insight of her own: “You’re uniquely qualified to succeed in life today. Have you ever thought about how you’ll manage all the success? Having a mentor or guide to help you navigate the twists and turns of your next few years can be really helpful. I can’t wait to introduce you to incredible individuals who know the power of intentional relationships and are eager to share their knowledge with you.”

We hope to see you down in Houston! No RSVPs are required but be sure to stay connected through the Facebook event page for all the latest information and updates. Email Kimber with any questions at kimber@spreadhopelikefire.com.
