About the Program

The St. Cloud State University Collegiate Recovery Community is a program within the Division of Student Life and Development (SLD), founded in 2012. The CRC currently employees a full-time Recovery Community Coordinator and a full-time Graduate Assistant. The SCSU Recovery Community offers dedicated on-campus recovery housing for up to 20 individuals (enrolled at St. Cloud State University or St. Cloud Technical and Community College). This high amenity facility offers each student a furnished private bedroom with a walkthrough closet and attached private bath in a four-person apartment unit. Students interested in recovery housing must complete the application process and be eligible by meeting requirements. We are a mid-sized program. The CRC also partners with the SCSU Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling Program to offer a small, dedicated drop-in center in the Education Building with office hours available Monday – Friday. Students in or seeking recovery can stop in during scheduled hours to meet with trained (Master’s level) peer mentors who provide support in a variety of areas such as academic self-efficacy, career exploration, etc., Our sponsored student organization, Students Taking Action in Recovery and Service (STARS), provides opportunities for students in or seeking recovery to engage in on going service opportunities on campus and in the community. They also sponsor campus-wide events that have been attended by hundreds of students and community members. Newcomers can participate in STARS and make use of the drop-in center without being formally admitted to the CRC.
