About the Program

Towson University’s Tigers in Recovery program was founded in 2015.  We are located within the Division of Student Affairs and are housed in the Counseling Center.  Though we do not yet have designated space or housing for students in recovery, we are working with campus partners to have these accommodations in the future.  Students do have the option to live in the Substance Free living-learning community, which is managed by the Office of Housing and Residence Life. Our program is supported by two full time alcohol and drug counselors, who in addition to overseeing the program also offer clinical services to students.  Currently, we are a small program; we are actively gaining visibility on campus and in the community.  As members, students can attend our weekly meetings as well as off-campus social programs, such as bowling nights, trips to Orioles games, and dinners at local restaurants.  Any student who identifies as being in recovery is welcome to join and just needs to contact the coordinator to set up an informational meeting.  Once a student joins they are able to participate in all of our activities and programs.

Become a member of arhe!

The Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE) is the only association exclusively representing collegiate recovery programs (CRPs) and collegiate recovery communities (CRCs), the faculty and staff who support them, and the students who represent them. ARHE provides the education, resources, and community connection needed to help change the trajectory of recovering student’s lives. We are a network of professionals, administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and policy makers.

A Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) is a college or university-provided program that includes a supportive environment within the campus culture. CRPs reinforce the decision to engage in a lifestyle of recovery from addiction/substance use disorder. It is designed to provide an educational opportunity alongside recovery supports to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice one for the other.

The ARHE Website is currently undergoing updates. While we anticipate minimal disruption, please email mack@collegiaterecovery.org if you experience any issues with the website and we apologize for any inconvenience.
