About the Program

Live Free is a UW-Madison Registered Student Organization within the Associated Students of Madison (ASM). Live Free is the first peer-to-peer student organization that confronts addiction through educational engagement, community outreach, and recovery resources at UW-Madison. Our student organization has office space dedicated to recovery meetings as well as wellness events in the Student Activity Center (SAC) on campus. Our goal is to support individuals who are simultaneously striving to achieve and/or maintain addiction recovery and getting an education. We also take pride in being a resource and welcoming community for individuals that are being indirectly affected by addiction, suffering from codependency, or simply desire a community that is dedicated to offering an inviting, substance-free space. Live Free is a small CRP and consists of five part-time student employees including two co-chairs, one events coordinator, one PR coordinator, as well as a community outreach employee. Live Free is advised by two clinicians who are a part of the University Health Services (UHS) on UW Madison’s campus. Live Free runs weekly meetings as well as monthly wellness events, everyone in the Madison community is welcome to attend any of Live Free’s events free of charge. The only requirement for membership is that the majority of attendees must be UW-Madison students, enrolled in either undergraduate or graduate programs. However, all newcomers are welcome to participate in all of Live Free’s offerings, we don’t send anyone away!
