About the Program

UCLA Collegiate Recovery Program

The UCLA Collegiate Recovery Program was established in Fall 2016 and is housed in the Bruin Resource Center within UCLA Student Affairs. We have a small meeting space and office space, and we are collaborating with Residential Life to establish sober living options in the future. Our staff includes a part-time Program Director and a part-time Master of Social Welfare (MSW) Intern, and we plan to hire a few undergraduate student interns for the upcoming year. UCLA’s CRP is a growing mid-size program and that provides students with individualized support for academic and personal concerns, meeting space for weekly recovery meetings, and referrals to campus resources. We also host sober social events to build a supportive and safe community and advocate to campus partners in order to create a more inclusive campus environment. Our program works closely with Bruins for Recovery (B4R), a student organization at UCLA aimed at creating a social support network for students in recovery and reducing the stigma of addiction. All students who are in recovery from substance use and addictive behaviors or who are supportive of the recovery community are welcome to attend CRP events. There are no sign-ups or formal requirements for membership at this time.

Become a member of arhe!

The Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE) is the only association exclusively representing collegiate recovery programs (CRPs) and collegiate recovery communities (CRCs), the faculty and staff who support them, and the students who represent them. ARHE provides the education, resources, and community connection needed to help change the trajectory of recovering student’s lives. We are a network of professionals, administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and policy makers.

A collegiate recovery program (CRP) is a College or University-provided, supportive environment within the campus culture that reinforces the decision to engage in a lifestyle of recovery from substance use. It is designed to provide an educational opportunity alongside recovery support to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice one for the other.
