Victoria (Vic) Cooper is the Recovery Programs Coordinator for Carolina Recovery at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Student Wellness. Originally from Northeastern Tennessee, Vic completed her undergraduate degree at UNC-Chapel Hill, returning to school through their collegiate recovery program after entering long-term recovery. 

She earned a B.A. in Women’s and Gender Studies and a minor in Mathematical Decision Sciences in 2019, and she completed an M.S.W. from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2024. Her previous experience includes working at the Orange County Rape Crisis Center and participating in research initiatives like VCU’s Spit for Science. Vic’s professional interests focus on trauma-informed and intersectional approaches to recovery, social justice reform, and substance use destigmatization. In 2023, she co-founded the Harm Reduction Coalition at UNC-Chapel Hill (HRC at UNC), strengthening campus-community partnerships and eliminating silos. Additionally, she participated in the 2024 NC MSW Program Review for Substance Use Prevention with Addiction Professionals of North Carolina (APNC).
