Access, Belonging, & Connection Fellow
Ayesha Al-Akhdar (she/her) is the Access, Belonging, and Connection Fellow for the ARHE. She holds an MA in Gender and Race Studies and a BS in Human and Environmental Sciences with a concentration in addiction and recovery science. Ayesha is a person in long-term recovery and has been a Certified Peer Specialist of Addictive Diseases (CPS-AD) for five years. In her time as a CPS-AD, she has worked with returning citizens (formerly incarcerated individuals) and emerging adults in recovery as they navigate journeys in continued or higher education. Ayesha believes that education and recovery are individually liberatory processes. She is committed to ensuring that the magical combination of these two paths is accessible to any student who seeks it. Ayesha is also an avid reader, enthusiast of the fiber arts, and emotional support mom to a very small and anxious dog.
