2024 has been a year of growth for ARHE as we hired our third full time staff member, began offering technical assistance to any institution, hosted our first west coast conference, and launched the official accreditation process for collegiate recovery! As we launch in to a new year, we reflect on some of our accomplishments throughout 2024. While we’re sure to have missed some, we wanted to share with you some of our highlights:  

January

  • Bret Frazier was hired as the new Technical Assistance Coordinator to focus on expanding TA services to collegiate recovery programs 
    • ARHE completed 578.75 hours of TA (both direct and indirect), resolving 75 unique TA request 
    • 26 resources were developed, in addition to webinars and professional development, monthly newsletters, and continued effort on ongoing projects to improve the field 
  • Began work with Faces and Voices of Recovery (FAVOR) on a project in South Carolina to expand collegiate recovery to more schools in the State 
  • Staff attended and exhibited at the NASPA Strategies Conference in San Francisco, CA 
  • A new Strategic Planning Cycle began with open sessions for gathering input and feedback from key stakeholders 
  • Staff attended the Peer Recovery Centre of Excellence (PRCoE) Retreat in Kansas City, MO 
  • Launched the new Access, Belonging, & Connection (ABC) programming 
  • Continued working with Dr. Chelsea Shore and her research team who was working to develop a descriptive database of collegiate recovery research

  • Staff reviewed the SRCRA external evaluation report from the pilot in late 2023 and began preparations for an official April launch of the new accreditation process

  • Staff attended and presented multiple sessions at the WVAAP Conference in partnership with the ORN 
  • ARHE Executive Director met with Dr. Gupta from the ONDCP in Charleston, WV  
  • ARHE hosts its first official Staff/Program Planning Retreat in Columbus, OH 
  • Staff attended, exhibited, and presented two sessions at the HECAOD National Meeting in Columbus, OH 
  • As part of their Policy & Practice Improvement Series, the Office of Recovery within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) released a report based on an in-person dialogue held from July 31-August 1, 2023. Twenty-three (23) professional staff and students convened with federal staff to share both practice experience and lived experience and inform the current state of collegiate recovery.

  • Facebook: We had 20.5k page views and we reached 20.9k new users in 2024! With 3.7k page visits, 2.6k content interactions, and 209 new followers, we are seeing increased growth! 
  • Instagram: We had 14.5k page views, 4.6k new users reached, 1.1k content interactions, 1.1k new visits to the page, and 172 new followers!  
  • LinkedIn: We had 30.3k impressions and just under 1k content interactions!

ARHE is grateful to continue growing and expanding resources for our members and the collegiate recovery field as a whole. In 2025, ARHE aims to continue growing collegiate recovery through expansion projects, continuing to offer technical assistance for new and developed programs, launching a new membership portal, increasing member benefits including the launch of a revitalized Resource Hub and brand-new Research Hub, hosting the annual conference in New Orleans in June, launching a new Strategic Plan, developing a Collegiate Recovery Professional Certification course, and so much more! 

We hope that each and every one of you has a wonderful new year and we look forward to celebrating your successes in 2025!
