Archival Database of Conference Session Abstracts

About the Database

The Conference Session Abstract Archive is a living, searchable database that preserves the history of educational sessions presented at our annual conference. It brings together session abstracts from past annual conferences hosted by Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE), Association of Recovery Schools (ARS), and Association of Alternative Peer Groups (AAPG).

This archive currently includes session abstract records dating back to 2017, with the goal of creating the most complete historical record possible of the ideas, research, practices, and innovations that have shaped collegiate recovery, recovery high schools, and alternative peer groups.

How to Use the Database

The archive is embedded directly on this page and can be explored in several ways:

  • Search by keyword to locate sessions by topic, population, presenter(s), intervention, or theme.

  • Browse by year to explore how conference content and priorities have evolved over time or filter by organization to narrow your search.

  • Review session titles and abstracts to support research, program development, training design, or historical inquiry.

This tool is intended for a wide audience, including practitioners, researchers, students, advocates, and conference presenters who want to revisit or build upon past work.

Why This Archive Matters

Conferences are often where emerging practices, new research, and field-shaping conversations first take place – yet much of that knowledge can be lost once an event concludes. This archive helps to:

  • Preserve the collective knowledge of the field.

  • Support longitudinal learning, allowing users to trace trends and shifts in recovery-oriented education.

  • Elevate the contributions of presenters and programs whose work has advanced recovery supports in higher education and beyond.

  • Strengthen future conferences by grounding new content in the history of what has come before.

  • Inspire new ideas and innovations through exploration of previous sessions, broadening the scope and audience of the conference to ensure that we are supporting the entire spectrum of scholastic recovery.

By maintaining this archive, ARHE affirms that the history of this field matters – and that today’s work is built on years of shared learning.

Data Limitations & Corrections

This database will be updated annually. While every effort has been made to ensure accuracy, some records may be incomplete, missing details, or contain errors due to limitations in historical source materials.

If you notice an issue or would like to suggest an edit or addition, please email Mack at mack@collegiaterecovery.org. Please make note of the record line number(s) that you are emailing about so that the updates can be made promptly and thoroughly.

Community input is essential to improving the quality and completeness of this resource.

Help Us Expand the Historical Record

At this time, the archive includes conference session abstracts from 2017 to the present. If you have access to ARHE, ARS, or AAPG conference programs from years prior to 2017, we would love your help.

Please consider sharing:

  • Digital program files (i.e. PDF, Docs, Spreadsheets, images)

  • Scanned copies of printed programs

  • Clear photographs of conference program booklets

These materials can be emailed to mack@collegiaterecovery.org and will be used to expand the archive and preserve the earliest chapters of this field’s history.

Thank you for helping us document, honor, and learn from the collective work of the scholastic recovery support community!

The ARHE website is under construction as we launch a new membership portal. Please inform mack@collegiaterecovery.org if you experience technical difficulties or need support.
