About the Program

Greenfield Community College’s Recovery Program was founded in 2010 and has undergone numerous iterations since it’s inception.  Currently it is housed in the Department of Community Engagement.   https://engage.gcc.mass.edu/ We hold weekly “all recovery meetings” on Thursdays at noon in the Community Resource Studio.  The studio is located in East 101 and also serves as a space for students to hang out in and/or study.  We also occasionally host educational or social programs designed for students in recovery.  Anyone who identifies as being in recovery is welcome to join us.   A link to recovery resources at GCC is here: https://www.gcc.mass.edu/students/community-resource-studio/

GCC is also a host to Recovery Coach Training.  You can find more information here: https://train.gcc.mass.edu/workshops/recovery-coach-academy/  Additionally, Community Engagement hosts a college success class every summer for prospective students in recovery.

We partner with numerous organizations in the community on recovery related initiatives most notably; The Opioid Task Force and the Recover Project.  We are also members of AHRE (Association of Recovery in Higher Education) https://collegiaterecovery.org/

The contact for information related to Recovery Initiatives on campus is Judy Raper, Associate Dean for Community Engagement.  She can be reached at 413-775-1819 or raperj@gcc.mass.edu

The Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE) is the only association exclusively representing collegiate recovery programs (CRPs) and collegiate recovery communities (CRCs), the faculty and staff who support them, and the students who represent them. ARHE provides the education, resources, and community connection needed to help change the trajectory of recovering student’s lives. We are a network of professionals, administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and policy makers.

A Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) is a college or university-provided program that includes a supportive environment within the campus culture. CRPs reinforce the decision to engage in a lifestyle of recovery from addiction/substance use disorder. It is designed to provide an educational opportunity alongside recovery supports to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice one for the other.

The ARHE website is under construction as we launch a new membership portal. Please inform mack@collegiaterecovery.org if you experience technical difficulties or need support.
