About the Program
NEVADA’S RECOVERY AND PREVENTION PROGRAM (NRAP)
Founded in 2011, Nevada’s Recovery and Prevention Program (NRAP) provides professional support and peer connections for students recovering from substance and behavioral addictions and student allies who are also choosing a substance-free lifestyle. NRAP, housed within the academic department of the Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT) provides an “abstinence friendly” student lounge. Utilizing wellness as its guiding principle, NRAP hosts 12-step meetings daily and offers other psychological, social, and recovery support meetings, etc. The recovery community also holds monthly celebrations, bi-semester BBQs, travel to recovery related conferences, and referrals to other campus services. COLLEGIATE RECOVERY PROGRAM
A Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) is a college or university-provided program that includes a supportive environment within the campus culture. CRPs reinforce the decision to engage in a lifestyle of recovery from addiction/substance use disorder. It is designed to provide an educational opportunity alongside recovery supports to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice one for the other.
