Wellness Groups on Campus

About the Program

The Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Recovery Program, Miners 4 Recovery, was founded in 2016 in Rolla, Missouri. We are located within the Division of Student Success, and more specifically within the Student Well-Being Department. We currently are located in 204 Norwood Hall, with groups meeting in our counseling group room. Our program is considered small-sized and well-supported by the campus. We have a Recovery Group through our Counseling Services and meet on a weekly basis. This support group is for Missouri S&T students who want to explore their own behaviors and ideas for change to avoid future consequences related to drugs and alcohol in a safe setting. We also have a Peer Wellness Educator, a student worker and leader on campus, who has a topic area of Alcohol, Cannabis and Other Drugs who does prevention, education, and awareness programming to their peers. In order to participate in our counseling group, you need to have the desire to work through the recovery 5 x 5 plan with a staff member and be willing to share with a group. The goal of this group is to increase self-awareness, increase understanding of responsibilities, examine your relationship with others, and share and receive feedback from others in similar circumstances. This is not an absence only group. Our campus also has a program for faculty, staff, and community members who are in recovery, Miners Recovery Fellowship. This group meets on campus, in a staff lounge, once a week and follows the AA model. This group provides a confidential and supportive space for those seeking community and encouragement in their journey. Newcomers are welcome to participate in events and programs and encouraged to explore recovery with us.

Become a member of arhe!

The Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE) is the only association exclusively representing collegiate recovery programs (CRPs) and collegiate recovery communities (CRCs), the faculty and staff who support them, and the students who represent them. ARHE provides the education, resources, and community connection needed to help change the trajectory of recovering student’s lives. We are a network of professionals, administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and policy makers.

A Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) is a college or university-provided program that includes a supportive environment within the campus culture. CRPs reinforce the decision to engage in a lifestyle of recovery from addiction/substance use disorder. It is designed to provide an educational opportunity alongside recovery supports to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice one for the other.

The ARHE website is under construction as we launch a new membership portal. Please inform mack@collegiaterecovery.org if you experience technical difficulties or need support.
