About the Program

The Collegiate Recovery Community at the University of Delaware was founded in 2014. It is housed in the Student Life division of the University of Delaware through Student Wellness and Health Promotion. Space for the CRC to meet is available for use through Student Wellness and Health Promotion as needed. Substance Free housing is available at the University of Delaware and can be a helpful resource for students in recovery. No recovery specific housing is available on campus. The CRC is coordinated by a counselor through Student Wellness and Health Promotion, no dedicated full time staff member is involved with the Collegiate Recovery Community at this time. We are currently defined as a small organization serving up to 14 students per semester. The CRC at UD currently provides weekly meetings to assist students in maintaining their sobriety on campus as well as to plan events and gatherings outside of those meeting times. We host events throughout the semester such as weekly All Recovery Yoga, recovery oriented speakers, and movie nights. Members of the CRC are critical in planning and organizing events throughout the semester. The CRC also provides advocacy for students when needed through establishing partnerships on campus with departments across the University of Delaware including but not limited to Residence Life and Housing and Student Health Services. Supportive counseling for substance related issues is available through the Student Wellness and Health Promotion office. Community partnerships have been developed with local advocacy groups and treatment centers. To be a part of the CRC at UD, a student needs to be committed to their sobriety and actively participating in activities supportive of recovery. Students who have close friends or family in recovery are also able to participate as CRC members and have an active role in events organized through the CRC.
