About the Program

Kent State University Collegiate Recovery Community was founded in the fall of 2017 and strives to transform our campus by empowering students to find recovery, achieve their potential, become community leaders, and THRIVE.  The CRC is a program of University Health Services, and the Collegiate Recovery Lounge is located in the Deweese Health Center.  Staffing includes a clinician and an outreach officer who coordinate programming part time, and is supported by clinicians within Psychological Services in the health center.  Recovery support services include a weekly student recovery support meeting, a weekly mutual aid meeting, a weekly running group, a monthly community dinner, and regular sober social activities.  Additional services offered include substance use assessment, referral, counseling, and weekly drop in consultation, as well as outreach programs and events on topics of substance use disorder and recovery.  Our CRC is small, currently supporting between 6-12 students at a time and is open to any student in recovery or exploring recovery.  We also welcome alumni and those in the application process to participate in our community meetings and events.
